The Persimmon Brunch is held in celebration of the women and girls we serve and every woman in Chicago who wishes to thrive. Proceeds from the brunch will support YWCA programs and services.

April is sexual violence awareness month when attention is brought to the need to stand up against sexual violence.

I was joined at the luncheon by my friends Karlin Paone, Finance Support Specialist with Chicago Public Schools and Stella Moy, Construction Manager with Bank of America (left). I met Erin Shakoor (right) for the first time at the event. She is Principal of Shakoor Interiors, an interior design and renovation firm located in Chicago. Erin is also a long-time friend of Dorri McWhorter, CEO of YWCA Chicago.

YWCA Pars Luncheon - Jewelry Display

Andie K. is just as bright and sparkly as her hand-crafted jewelry pieces.  The wonderful Molly (right) was a great promoter.

YWCA Pars Luncheon Breakfast Bar

The Metropolitan Club provided an amazing array of brunch items.  The omelet station was a favorite.

We enjoyed soothing classical music from this talented trio from the Chicago Sinfonietta’s Project Inclusion.

YWCA Pars Luncheon Glitter for Good

Oh, but if baubles really would grow on trees!  Karlin and I enjoyed browsing the beautiful handmade jewelry.  Andie K. is a social enterprise with a portion of every sale going to support a charity.  The chosen charity for that day was YWCA Chicago in honor of the luncheon.

YWCA Pars Luncheon - Networking You can see the persimmon sprinkled throughout the crowd.  It’s a lovely color and only one of the many components of rebranding that the new CEO, Dorri McWhorter has spearheaded.  She’s truly a force to be reckoned with.

YWCA Pars Luncheon - The Blue Ones Please

I purchased a beautiful pair of hand-blown blue glass earrings. Amazing!!!

It’s wonderful when you can glitter for good!
